which was founded in 1997 between Eberspaecher and SMA (S. M. Auto Engineering Pvt. Ltd. Pune India),he attached resident engineering office with its engineers trained in Germany will meet the increasing requirements for exhaust technology in India. The next step will be the creation of an entire development center including appropriate test and inspection equipments.
In future, Eberspaecher wishes to play a leading role in the exhaust technology area on the emerging Indian market. "Due to the dramatic speed of growth and the entry into the after-treatment of exhaust emissions, the Indian market offers to us excellent perspectives," explains Dr. Thomas Wunsche, Managing Director of Eberspaecher and responsible for Exhaust Technology. "Not only do we master the technologies that will be in demand there in future; we also can adjust them to the market-specific characteristics.
In doing so, we offer our customers not only product and process technologies according to Western standards but also the expertise for the requirements and cost structures of the Indian market."
Wunsche ranks the commercial vehicle sector as a special priority, which will take a technological jump in India during the next few years.
Instead of pure silencing as per EURO 3, the gradual introduction of EURO 4 - initially in the congested urban areas and later throughout the entire country - specifies emission values that require after-treatment of exhaust emissions for the very first time. With the expert knowledge and the competence from the Eberspaecher headquarters, SMA Eberspaecher Exhaust Systems Pvt. Ltd. - India will be able to offer its commercial vehicle customers complete system solutions.
"In the recent past, many Indian vehicle manufacturers entered joint ventures with our international customers," explains Wunsche. "This results for us in perfect synergies."
Access to the Western and the Indian markets, technological expertise and knowledge of local requirements should gain additional national and international manufacturers for passenger cars and commercial vehicles in the future. Wunsche emphasizes: "With an appropriate order situation, additional locations in other Indian automotive centers - such as Pithampur or Chennai - are quite conceivable for logistics reasons alone."
Eberspaecher ranks amongst the leading system developers and suppliers of exhaust gas technology and vehicle heating worldwide. Its customers include almost all European, North American and more and more Asian manufacturers for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Worldwide, the internationally active group of companies, which includes 38 operative companies in 19 countries, employs approximately 5,500 people. Its turnover exceeds two billion Euros.
