Shimla, Sep 23 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh was adjudged best state in the country for environment protection and increase of green cover by the 'IBN7 Diamond States Awards'.
Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, conferred the award to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in a function held at New Delhi last night.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Dhumal said, ''The people of Himachal are committed to increase the forest areas and also undertake various measures to improve air quality in the region.'' The awards were given in partnership with the 'Outlook' magazine for human resource and social development efforts by the states of the country.
