Hyderabad, Sep 23 (UNI)The department of fisheries has taken up a massive programme to arrange fish seed in all the reservoirs and tanks especially those of 40 hectares or more.
This will not only help increase fish production and income of fishermen but it will also help maintain these water bodies in eco-friendly manner, according to a release.
It was observed that there were small water bodies (less than one acre size) in backyards owned by the individuals and also ponds and decorative fountain bodies in corporate ofices, hospitals and hotels either for decoration or for storing water in the gardens.
Due to lack of guidance, many of these ponds were not being put to use for stocking fish seed though they are equally good for growing a variety of fishes. With some additional effort, these small garden ponds could be used for promoting fish.
