{image-Ferrous and Non-ferrous metals_23092008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Mumbai, Sep 23: An upward march was seen in ferrous and non-ferrous metals for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, Sep 23 on brisk buying support by stockists, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

In ferrous metals, copper heavy and copper utensils advanced by Rs 200 per quintal each on good demand by bulk consumers. In the last two days, copper heavy and copper utensils rallied by Rs 500 and Rs 400 per quintal respectively. Copper heavy and copper utensils ended at Rs 36,900 and Rs 34,700. Brass utensils, which fell yesterday by Rs 100, recovered today by Rs 100 per quintal, on lesser stock supply by stockists and closed at Rs 25,400. Brass cuttings remained unaltered on scattered buying by industrial users, traders said. In non-ferrous metals, copper wire bars further rose by Rs 300 per quintal on better buying support by stockists and finished at Rs 40,200.

Lead ingot, which was steady yesterday, was up by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 10,600 on sustained demand by bulk consumers. However, nickel cathode slightly fell by Rs 2 per kg to end at Rs 995 on lower buyng support by bulk consumers. Other metals namely aluminium ingot, zinc slab and tin slab remained flat on scattered buying by stockists, traders added.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 36,900, copper utensils - Rs 34,700, brass utensils - Rs 25,400, brass cuttings - Rs 26,400 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,900. Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 40,200, aluminium ingots- Rs 13,100, zinc slab - Rs 10,300, lead ingots - Rs 10,600, tin slab - Rs 1,075 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 995 per kg.
