Mangalore, Sep 23 (UNI) A high level team of the Union Home Ministry today arrived here to take stock of the situation following the recent attack on places of worship in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka.
The team headed by Union Internal Security Special Secretary Mahendra Kumwat along with Human Rights Department Joint Secretary A K Madhavan visited places of worship where the police allegedly entered the prayer hall and beat up the nuns and others residing in the Church on September 15, the next day after the attack.
The team is visiting places of worship at Kulasekhar and Kodakal where the police had allegedly committed atrocities.
Mr Kumwat, declining to give any details about the visit, said after Mangalore, the team would also visit Udupi. It would submit its report to the Union Home Ministry soon after returning to Delhi, he said.
