Case registered against seven in Rs 15 cr fraud
New Delhi, Sep 23 (UNI) The CBI today registered a case of fraud against seven people for defrauding the Reserve Bank of India of nearly Rs 15 crore by forging cheques.
The case relates to encashing of duplicate cheques, printed under the same series, using forged signature of railway officers, according to the CBI.
The RBI had issued a cheque book to the North-Eastern Railways, Gorakhpur, which the accused had duplicated and withdrawn Rs 14.55 crore.
The arrests were made during raids at several places.
However, investigations were still on to ascertain others, including bank officials, involved in the fraud, it added.
