Srinagar, Sep 22: Two infiltrators were killed near the Line of Control (LoC) immediately after they sneaked into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said on Monday, Sep 22. They said troops guarding the border noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side at Kamal Post Kapra Wali diary at Budnambal in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning.
When troops asked the militants to surrender, they opened fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash, two militants were killed. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain infiltrators. on Sunday, Sep 21, similar attempt to infiltrate into this side was made in Karnah sector. However, the militants were challenged, ensuing a gun battle. The search in the entire forest area was going on when the reports last came in.
More than 25 militants were killed near LoC after they entered this side from POK this year. About half-a-dozen security personnel also lost their lives in these encounters.
The officials said more than 1,500 militants are waiting across the border to sneak into this side before the infiltrating route are closed due to snowfall.
