Barnala, Sep 22 (UNI) A man was allegedlly poisoned to death by his in-laws in their residence at Mahal Kalan village in the district last night, police sources said today.
The victim, Ikattar Singh of village Maholi Kalan in Sangrur district, who had been invited home by his in-laws on the pretext of his sister-in-law's enegagement, rang up home last evening saying his life was in danger as he had been given poison in the food, according to a police complaint lodged by his brother Sukhdev Singh.
Sukhdev Singh alleged that they rushed to Barnala after getting Ikattar's mobile call but by the time they reached Ikattar's in-law's house, he had already died.
Ikattar, 28, had married Paramjit Kaur of Mahal Kalan in Barnala district about 7 years ago and had strained relations with her and her family, Sukhdev claimed.
A case has been registered at Mahal Kalan police station under sections 302 and 34 IPC against the deceased's wife, his brother-in- law Gurjant Singh and mother-in-law Baljinder Kaur.
However, no arrests have been made so far.
