Nagaland school move into the semi-finals of Subroto Cup

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) Tingnyek pumped in three goals to lead Green Wood Hr Sec School, Nagaland to victory over Namchi Sports Hostel, Sikkim 5-0 in the Sub-Juniors' category to move into the semi-finals of the Subroto Cup here today.

The Nagaland outfit scored all the goals in the first half and vitually made it impossible for Namchi Sports to make a come back in the match.

Besides Tingnyek who scored in the 22nd, 29th and 31st minute, Wasadplung (9th) and Nyuhenlo (13th) were other goal scorers for Green Wood school.

In the fourth quarterfinals of the Sub-Junior category, Ignatius High Sec School, Jharkhand overpowered Govt Kolasib High School, Mizoram 2-0.

For the Jharkhand team, Mahender Munda and Pradip Lakra scored a goal each in the 19th and 57th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Junior category the Sports Authority of India, Kolkata defeated Vasant Valley School, New Delhi 2-1 to move into the semi-finals.

Aiborlang K Mujat scored a brace in the 13th and 41st minute, while Nikhil Ledlie was the lone scorer for the Delhi team.

In the last match of the day, Town High School, Orissa defeated Govt Model Sr Sec School, Chandigarh 2-1.

For Orissa team, Suresh Kujur and Bhada Tudu scored a goal each in the 31st and 68th minutes respectively.

Pankaj Negi could only manage to reduce the victory margin in the 70th minute.
