Mumbai doctor killed in lightning in flood relief camp in Bihar

Supaul, Sep 22 (UNI) A Mumbai based doctor Chandrakant Patil was killed in lightning in a flood relief camp at 22 RD canal under Birpur police station here late last night.

District Magistrate N Sravan Kumar said here today that a team of five doctors inclduing Dr Patil came under the impact of thundershower and lightning when they were about to retire after winding up their day in the relief camp.

He said Dr Patil died on the spot while four other Mumbai based doctors too received the shocks but were saved luckily.

The deceased was persuing his MD from KEM Medical college, Mumbai and was the lone child of his parents.

After postmortem the body was flown to Mumbai via Patna by special chopper of Bihar government, Mr Kumar said.

The other four doctors deputed in the said relief camp also left for Mumbai along with the body of their fellow doctor, he added.

All the five doctors were part of a team of 50 doctors who had arrived in the flood affected districts under the banner of "Doctors For You" the DM informed.
