JNTU to introduce courses of relevance to Industry
Kakinada, Sep 22 (UNI) The Jawaharalal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), here will soon introduce new courses with strategic relevance to petro-chemical industry and agriculture as it needs to be accessed by the IT sector.
Addressing the affiliated Engineering College managements of the region here today, Prof Allam Apparao, the first Vice-Chancellor of JNTU Kakinada, stressed the need for restructuring the technical curriculum in the backdrop of the finding of vast reserves of oil and gas in the Krishna Godavari river basin off the Kakinada coast.
Referring to the achievement of the Reliance industries in exploration of hydro carbons and the statement of Mukesh Ambani yesterday, the Vice Chancellor said the University also had to rise to the occasion and restructure the courses to suit the industry.
Pointing out that the eight coastal districts from Srikakulam to Prakasam are rich in natural resources, he spoke in detail about the fertile lands, bio-diversity, underground oil and natural gas reserves and the aqua culture units all over the region.
