London, Sep 22 : Hollywood actress Dana Delany has revealed that she was the original choice to play the lead role in hit TV series 'Sex and the City'.
The actress admits she was offered the part of Carrie Bradshaw in the hit TV series, a role later made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker.
The actress has admitted that show's producer Dareen Star first approached her for the part of Carrie Bradshaw in the hit TV series, a role later made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker.
However, she turned down the offer, as she didn't want to talk about sex again on TV after her kinky flick 'Exit to Eden' was criticed by the audience.
"The producer of Sex and the City, Darren Star, was an old friend of mine and he talked to me about it. But I had just played Mistress Lisa in Eden and people reacted badly to it. I had been America's sweetheart and they (the public) just didn't want to see me in that role. So I said, 'Darren, I just can't talk about sex one more time'. So Sarah Jessica Parker made it her own." The Daily Star quoted Dana Delany, as saying.
However the actress also admits that she is glad that she didn't accept the role as the show wouldn't have been a huge hit without Parker.
"I wouldn't have been the fashion icon that she was. It would have been a completely different show and who knows if it would have been a hit?" she said.
