Chennai, Sept 22 (UNI) The Principal Sessions Court today declined to grant bail to Banumathy, the prime accused in the late Chief Minister M G Ramachandran's kin Vijayan's murder case.
Dismissing the bail application filed by Ms Banumathi, who was alleged to have master-minded the murder, Sessions court judge Devadoss said the investigation in the case was in advanced stage and the accused could not be released at this stage.
The judge said the accused, who is running an Educational Institution, should have been a model for others, but she herself was involved in a murder case.
The accused would tamper with the witnesses, if she was granted bail at this stage, the judge said.
Vijayan, husband of Ms Latha MGR's one of the foster daughters, was hacked to death three months ago, by a hired gang when he was returning home.
The Crime Branch Police entrusted with the investigation after the local police failed to make any breakthrough, found the involvement of Ms Banumathy, sister of Latha.
Investigations revealed that Ms Banumathy, with the help of a police constable, had hired the gang to kill Mr Vijayan, as he posed her problems in getting some property.
