Patna, Sep 22 (UNI) The state government today beefed up security arrangements in the capital city and its neighbourhood in view of the coming festive season.
Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar informed tonight that in the wake of recent serial blasts in a number of cities across the country, including New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Jaipur the Patna police had made foolproof security arrangements and decided instal soon close circuit televisions and other sophisticated gadgets in ten major public places here to maintain round the clock vigil.
These places included the Patna Junction, Bihar Assembly complex, State Secretariat, Mahavir Mandir and the city's main Masjid in the New Market area, Mr Kumar said adding that apart from installing CCTVs and other gadgets, large number of civil dressed policemen and members of other security agencies would be deployed in all these areas and other public places to maintain round the clock vigil.
He also appealed to the general public not to panick but remain alert.
The people must also inform the local police stations in case of coming across any suspicious item or having found anybody moving suspiciously anywhere in the city, he pointed out.
Mr Kumar, however, categorically denied the report in a section of electronic media here about the receipt of an e-mail from an alleged subversive group and assured people of foolproof arrangements made by the city police to thwart any disruptive activity.
'' The city police is fully geared up to meet any eventuality, '' he reiterated.
