Rajnandgaon, Sep 21 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh Government has decided to take strict action against government doctors, who are doing private practice.

''Government doctors receive 25 per cent non-practice allowance.

Under such circumstances, providing services at nursing home could not be allowed,'' Health Secretary R S Vihswakarma told UNI here.

Admitting that there was dearth of doctors in the state, he said situation would improve with ongoing recruitment of 1,200 doctors. Besides, 500 posts for doctors had been created for tribal areas where allopathic, homeopathy and unani doctors would be posted.

About complaints in the National AIDS Control programme, he said some problems had come to notice. Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) centre had been set up in each district and equipment made available to provide better services to patients.

Regarding foeticide and misuse of sonography in private nursing homes, he said a case has been registered in Bilaspur. A district-level committee headed by Chief Executive Office carries out sudden inspection at nursing homes.

Regarding medicine purchase scam, the Health Secretary said there were problems related to purchase and delivery. A case has been registered by the government and inquiry was underway. Strict action would be taken against those found guilty.
