Sniffer dog helps police detect 15 kg Ganja at Andaman Port

Port Blair, Sep 21 (UNI) A sniffer dog of Andaman and Nicobar Police today helped Andaman's CID unit to detect 15 kg of Ganja from two bags of passengers, coming out from Chennai-Port Blair bound ship M V Swaraj Dweep.

Following a tip off, a team of CID unit of Andaman and Nicobar Islands led by Dy SP (CID) B Shaigal, kept an eye on passengers getting off M V Swaraj Dweep Vessel in Haddo Port this morning. A sniffer dog from Andaman's Dog squad was also brought.

Finally, when a labourer was coming out with two heavy bags, the sniffer dog smelt the Ganja and alerted the CID team.

After investigation it was found the both the bags contained 15 KG of Ganja, at a market value of Rs 2.10 lakh, police sources informed UNI today.

The labourer, a resident of Bambooflat village of South Andaman, was arrested while the owner of the bag reportedly fled.

Meanwhile, the CID team has lodged a case against the apprehended person and a massive hunt has been initiated to apprehend the absconding person.
