OPPI releases ''Vision 2015'' report on pharma industry
Mumbai, Sep 21 (UNI) Playing a key role in promoting and sustaining development in the vital field of medicines, Organizaton of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) has released the ''Vision 2015'' report on the pharma industry.
Addressing the Annual general meeting of Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), the leading association of research based international and large pharmaceutical companies in India, held here last night, the Chief Guest, Mr Ashok Kumar Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, applauded the contributions of OPPI in driving the efforts of the industry to meet the healthcare challenges.
The audience were informed about the recently established Department of Pharmaceuticals, putting efforts into promotion of research, education, training and encouraging inter-sectoral partnership by garnering support from public and private companies.
He urged the members of the association to identify the drugs, which are yet to be introduced in India and devise processes to help in their introduction in the country. Appreciating the efforts towards innovation of this industry, he informed that about 90 per cent of the product patents granted are within this industry.
