K'taka failed in containing communal riots: Fernandes
Gulbarga, Sep 21 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes alleged that the BJP had not only failed in containing attacks on church's but also encouraging the communal forces.
Talking to reportes at Basavakalyan in Bidar district here today, he pointed out that while rioters claimed that they vandalised the churches, the BJP government was making contradictory statements.
"It is a known fact that the Hindtva forces vandalising the Christian prayer halls but the government is trying to conceal the truth", he said.
Referring to the Centre's advisory to the state government, Mr Fernandes clarified that the it had the BJP ruled state government to take stringent steps to contain the communal attacks since the BJP governments were not doing so.
"The Centre has not asked the Congress party ruling states, becase such a situation has not arisen" he explained.
Replying to a query on when the Karnataka Pradesh Congress President be appointed, Mr Fernandes replied that there are some contenders for the post and the High Command is seriously considering and it may take some time to appoint a new KPCC President.
Describing Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa as a puppet in the hands of "mining lords Reddy brothers" Rajya Sabha member and Congress party leader Anil Lad alleged that large scale irregularities are taking places in the mining sector but the state government had no guts to take steps to curb it as the Reddy brothers playing a vital role in the government.
