Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 21 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly and senior Congress Leader Oommen Chandy today said State Education Minister M A Baby should apologise for his role in ''playing with the students future'' in the guise of education reforms.

Alleging the single window admission to the Plus I course was a ''total failure'', he said in a statement here the Education Minister crushed the old system with the new one.

Mr Chandy said even after sixth phase of allotment, a large number of students were still waiting to get admission to the course.

After the completion of the sixth phase of allotment, more than 9,000 seats were vacant while an equal number of students were still waiting for seats, he added.

Pointing out the government's decision to continue with the admission till September 29, he said, the half-year term examination would commence after 16 days and it was not possible to finish the lessons for the period.

The Education Minister should clarify when the lessons would be completed.
