WB Chief Minister meets State Governor to discuss Singur impasse
Kolkata, Sept 20 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee met the State Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi here today in a fresh attempt to resolve the Singur impasse.
According to reports, the meeting assumes significance after Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's Friday's talks with the Governor.
She alleged that the State government is not implementing the agreement which was signed in the presence of Governor to resolve the stalemate.
Meanwhile, the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Chief and information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi has criticized the State Government for unilateral announcement of rehabilitation package for the land losers of Singur.
Addressing a party rally in Kolkata today, he said the state government should take into confidence all concerned including the land losers and agitators before announcing such a package. He held the Chief Minister responsible for the Singur impasse.
Addressing the gathering, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said the political parties should not take dogmatic approach in protecting farmers' interest.
He said the political movement should be launched keeping greater public interest in mind and not for any instant gains.
