Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Sep 20 (UNI) Incarcerated terrorists S Sheik Abdul Gafoor (39) and S Syed Kasim Heera (28) alias Heera, who were arrested by Tamil Nadu police on charges of hatching a conspiracy to trigger series of blasts in the state were booked under the National Security Act (NSA) today.
Police sources said on the orders from Tirunelveli City Police Commissioner M N Manjunatha, the NSA was invoked against them.
While Heera was lodged in Madurai Central Prison, his associate Gafoor was in Palayamkottai Central Prison.
The state police had busted a terror module, which had planned to carry out series of explosions in Chennai and Tirunelveli on Independence Day by arresting Gafoor, a member of Jihad Committee on July 27, at Tirunelveli.
Gafoor, an employee in a footwear firm in Chennai, revealed the conspiracy after he was arrested from Pettai in Tirunelveli, following which Heera and Alia Abdullah, the ''mastermind'', who hatched the conspiracy and lodged in Puzhal jail near Chennai, were held.
Police confiscated 21 various types of accessories used for making Improvised Explosive Device (IED), besides one kg of IED from them.
