Two days workshop on compilation of IIP for NE states

Shillong, Sep 20 (UNI) A two-day regional workshop for the North-East on compilation of comparable state level Index of industrial production (IIP) will be held here from September 22.

The workshop will be organised by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Central Statistical Organisation (CSO), Kolkata, in collaboration with the Diretorate of Economics and Statistics, Meghalaya government.

The objective of this workshop is to assist the states in the compilation of IIP, revision of the base year, preparation of weighting diagram, items basket among others.

The IIP is a prime indicator of measruing the growth of industrial sector or the performance of different sectors.

Dr S K Nath, Director General, CSO will inaugurate the workshop.

Additional Director General of CSO, A Marbaniang, Director of Economics and Statistics and senior officers from CSO and state Directorate of Economics and statistics of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura will also take part in it.
