Ahmedabad, Sep 20 (UNI) City crime branch sleuths have seized material meant for making bombs similar to the one used in the July 26 serial blasts that rocked the city from Narol area of the city.
Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police H R Muliana told mediapersons here that the sleuths late last night raided a two-storey-house and seized material including shell for timers, nine wattage batteries with connector wire, polythene bags used in bomb making, bicycle carriers and bags to hang bombs on bicycle carriers, cellotapes, cover for cars and a multimeter used in checking circuit and voltage.
He said they conducted the raid based on the information obtained from the arrested terror accused, Jahid Sheikh, who is in police custody. During the interrogation, he had revealed that the serial blasts mastermind Abdul Subhan alias Tauqeer and Kyamuddin Kapadiya of Vadodara, who are still at large, had stayed in a house in Al Ahmedi Society in Narol area of the city.
Mr Muliani said Sheikh had also revealed that two men -- Atif alias Bashir and Sajid (involved in serial bomb blasts in Delhi and Ahmedabad), who were killed in an encounter with police in Delhi yesterday, had stayed in the house before the July 26 blasts. Apart from Atif and Sajid, some other terrorists involved in bomb-making had stayed in this house.
An Ahmedabad Municiple Corporation (AMC) diary containing photographs of political leaders and information about the city was also recovered from the house, he said.
Mr Muliani said before vacating the house, the terrorists had destroyed some evidence. Police are banking on forensic analysis of whatever had remained at the site, he added.
