SIMI activist arrested in MP
Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activist Mohammad Ali has been arrested even as police is maintaining a strict vigil on the activities of SIMI workers in Madhya Pradesh in wake of the recent bomb blasts in different cities of the country, police said today.
Ali was nailed down from Kareli railway station in Narsinghpur district on Thursday, police sources said while declining to confirm where he was detained.
Police was maintaining a close vigil on the activities of the SIMI workers in Jabalpur, Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal and other places.
Efforts were on to nab another SIMI activist Ifran in Narsinghpur district with help of the Delhi and Gujarat Police, sources said.
A few months before the Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bangalore serial blasts, about 12 top ranking SIMI activists were arrested from Indore and other places in western Madhya Pradesh. Many of them were now on the remand of the Gujarat Police.
