Rajya Sabha to have separate TV channel
Chandigarh, Sep 20 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha would have a separate TV channel on the pattern of Lok Sabha TV channel so as to enable the people view proceedings of both houses.
This was stated by Secretary General Lok Sabha P D T Achary while delivering presidential address at the inaugural function of Conference of Secretaries of Legislative Bodies in India, here today. It is for the first time that this conference is being hosted by Haryana.
He said both these TV channels of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would be run by a common management.
Mr Achary said subjects related to Anti-Defection Law, Oath of Affirmation by Members, Voting, Committee on Papers laid on the table, Right to Information, Whip and Parliamentary functioning were of contemporary relevance and needed to be debated.
As a conference of Presiding Officers of Legislative Bodies was to commence here tomorrow, he said the views and rich experiences of Presiding Officers from across the country in dealing with the anti-defection law cases would provide them a unique opportunity to approach the subject from academic and practical perspectives.
