Overturned gas tanker creates panic in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 20 (UNI) Panic crippled Bijbehara in south Kashmir when a tanker filled with gas overturned in the middle of road on Srinagar-Jammu National highway this afternoon.
Apprehensions that it may blast, the authorities immediately sealed the entire area and those present were taken to a safe place.
The traffic on the highway from both sides was suspended.
Later the authorities sought the help of experts from the HP to avert any incident.
A 50-tonne private crane was put to work to bring the tanker back on the road as the chassis of the tanker had suffered damage due to which the tyres could not move.
The repairs of the tanker were conducted at site so that it could be towed away.
The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir ordered decanting of the LPG tanker at site, with experts from HP under the overall supervision of Coordinator Disaster Management.
