Lafarge India plans to double production by 2013
Patna, Sep 20 (UNI) Lafarge India, a wholly owned subsidiary of world's leading cement manufacturer, has targetted 100 per cent growth in production within the next five years to maintain the company's steady all round growth and in keeping with the increasing demand of its product.
'' In the wake of increasing demand from the infrastructure, housing and other major sectors the company has decided to double its production capacity from the present 5.5 million ton to at least 11 million ton by 2012-13, '' company spokeperson Kirti Sundaram quoting Lafarge India Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Uday Khanna here said.
To a query, she, however, ruled out any immediate plan to start any new production unit anywhere in the country to meet the increasing demand.
'' We are not looking for any expansion or modernisation of our existing plants in Jharkhand and in Chattisgarh as both of them were capable of meeting the increasing demand as well to reach the new production target, '' she emphasised but refused to share any further detail.
Speaking to newsmen here in connection with the launch of the company's new television commercial featuring Cricket India captain M S Dhoni as the Brand Ambassador, Ms Sundaram hoped the new commercial would go a long way in popularising the new Lafarge product 'Concreto' among the new generation.
