Rashid wins Golden Greens Amateur title

Gurgaon, Sep 19 (UNI) Fancied Rashid Khan played a sublime round of golf to collect his second consecutive title as he won the LG Golden Greens Indian Amateur by eight strokes here today.

On the last day, Rashid fired his second successive five under par 67 with the only blemish on his card coming on the par-4 17th to take his four day tally to 280 (72, 74, 67, 67).

Rudresh Sharma shot a par 72 round and with an aggregate of 288 finished runners up. His four round score was 72, 71, 73, 72.

Starting from the 10th tee, Rashid raced ahead of the pack with a 32 on the outward nine and after that the chasing pack never really had a chance and had to be content fighting it out for the second place.

The next major assignment for Rashid is the Eisenhower Trophy in October and the Faldo Series Finals after that.

Abhinav Lohan, the leader after two rounds, had a dismal last day as he shot five over 77 to take his total to 291 and ended third.

While experienced players like Gagan Verma, Moin Malak and Abhishek Jha finished in the top 10.
