Jammu, Sep 19 (UNI) The Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) today while keeping aside any plans of its participation in the forthcoming Assembly elections said it would not go to polls but would carry out an awareness campaign (Jan Jagran) on discrimination against the Jammu region.
''The political parties are gearing up for the coming elections scheduled to be held in October-November and trying to generate vote bank by raising different issued including constitution of delimitation,'' Leela Karan Sharma, convenor of SAYSS said at a press conference here.
''The political parties seeking delimitation before election have taken the refuge of this slogan only to deceive the people just to gain vote banks for the coming elections as the NC government has already passed a bill that there would be no delimitation before 2026,'' Mr Sharma said.
However, the Samiti convenor alleged that state administration is not implementing the 'Peace Agreement' agreed on August 31, which may force SAYSS of resuming its suspended agitation.
''Nineteen days have passed yet the government has not fulfilled its assurance inked on August 31 and it has emerged doubts and Government's intention on the Amaranth Shrine land deal as the formal order for land deal is still pending with the Governor,'' the Samiti leader said and added that if the state government fails to implement the land accord at the earliest, the suspended agitation may resume.
''We doubt the integrity of the administration, which still seems to be strongly captivated by the anti-national influence and hence is delaying on issuing the government order on the land,'' Mr Sharma asserted.
