Nashik, Sep 19 (UNI) Maharashtra PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal will inaugurate the state-level convention of NCP Doctors cell here on September 28.
As many as 4,000-5,000 doctors from across the state will attend the convetion. The cell, founded nine years ago, is busy in providing medical services in all 389 talukas of the state. It has done laudable work during various calamities including the deluge in Mumbai on July 26, 2005.
State Public Health Minister Dr Vimal Mundada will preside over the programme. Doctors from the cell will be honoured with 'Rashtrawadi Arogyamitra' awards at the hands of Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. He will also be felicitated on the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil will release the medical special issue of Rashtrawadi magazine, the mouthpiece of the party. Many state cabinet ministers and other dignitaries will attend the convention, NCP MLA Dr Vasant Pawar here said.
The convention, divided in seven sessions, will touch upon various subjects such as global warming, disaster management, AIDS awareness and various subjects related to doctors and the medical fraternity.
Lectures by presidents of various branches of the medical franternity will also take place on the occasion.
Demands for immediate sanction of the law providing protection to doctors, permission to use life saving allopathy drugs to general practitioners and appointments of doctors on various medical committees will be the main subjects on the agenda of the convention, NCP Doctors cell state president Dr Dilip Ghule said.
