Puducherry, Sep 19: Puducherry Municipality would introduce licence for 'pet dogs'.
In a press release here today, Municipal Commissioner, Sumathi said the people who are preserving pet dogs should remit an amount of Rs 150 towards licence fee to the municipality. The licence would be for one year and could be renewed by paying an additional amount of Rs 100, she added.
Ms Sumati said after obtaining the licence, the muncipality would arrange free rabbies vaccination for the dogs and camps at different areas for the purpose would start soon and conclude on November 12.
The Commissioner said the people should keep the licenced dogs inside their residences. If the dogs were seen on roads, the municipality would treat them as 'stray dogs' and take them away, the release added.
