Lawson extends his leave till Sep 27

By Staff

Lahore, Sep 19 (UNI) Leaving no option for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hose down the speculations about his future with the national team, coach Geoff Lawson, who along with trainer David Dwyer was expected to return on Wednesday after spending 10 days in Australia, extended his leave till September 27.

''Both the officials were scheduled to come back on September 17 but as there was no domestic and international cricket going on here, they have decided to extend their stay in Australia,'' a PCB official confirmed.

With the resignation of previous chairman Nasim Ashraf last month, Lawson and Dwyer, who are in a two-year contract with the Board since July last year, are quite vulnerable.

Ashraf's resignation has also cost the former Australian pacer the most as he lost one of his biggest supporter in the Board.

The coach left Pakistan rather abruptly for a 10-day leave on September 8, which gave rise to speculations that he may end his two-year contract with the PCB prematurely.

Reacting to the reports, Lawson however said he has gone home to see his mum in Wagga on a brief vacation.
