Jaya hits out at media, asks partymen not to give ads
Chennai, Sep 19 (UNI) AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa today took a dig at a section of the media urging partymen not to give advertisements to newspapers trying to portray the AIADMK in a negative manner due to ''pressure'' from the ruling DMK.
Addressing the Party General Council at suburban Vaanagaram here, she named a couple of newspapers and said they were not publishing her speeches and statements in a proper manner.
''Instead, they are deliberately intrepreting my statements with a view to portray the party in bad light,'' she said and alleged the newspaper managements were blacking out her statements out of fear for their life from the ruling party.
''But for Jaya TV (promoted by her), there is no other medium to carry my statements and message to the public,'' she claimed and appealed to partymen not to issue advertisements to such newspapers.
''You hit them at their weakest point so that they can feel the pain and realise their mistake. If you stop giving advertisements, then these newspapers will not get any revenue and will feel the pinch,'' she added.
The party workers should teach these newspapers a lesson by not giving advertisements so that they could start respecting the party.
''Instead of giving advertisments in newspapers to impress me and draw my attention, the party workers should distribute pamphlets and put up posters,'' she said.
