Nashik, Sep 19 (UNI) Heavy rains lashing several parts of the district today threw normal life out of gear with large cusecs of water being released from various dams.
Though the rains subdued after September 13, heavy rains started lashing Niphad, Igatpuri, Kalwan, Peth, Surgana, Trimbakeshwar, Sinnar and several other places since wee hours today.
Following heavy rains, around 10,521 cusecs water was released from Gangapur Dam and 3,400 cusecs from Alandi Dam, causing floods in the Godavari River. The release of water from others dams has also risen water levels of River Waghadi, Nasardi, Darna, Waldevi, sources in district administration said.
An alert has been sounded to people living on the banks of Godavari as well as in other low-lying areas of the city and district.
The district received 96.9 per cent rain of its annual average till yesterday.
Following amounts of water was released from various dams in the district ill 9000 hrs today: (In Cusecs) Darna: 6,224, Palkhad: 9,187, Mukane: 2,001, Kadwa: 1,060, Waldevi: 814, Nandurmadhyameshwar: 17,089.
The water was released from Nandurmadhyameshwar dam will reach 30,000 cusecs till 1800 hrs today, sources said.
