Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) A Gomei of St Stephen's School here will lead Chandigarh in the 31st Sub-Junior National Football Championship Under-14 for the Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy due to start from tomorrow at Mahilpur in Punjab.
According to Association Secretary Rakesh Bakshi, Chandigarh are cluster VI alongwith Karnataka, Assam and Manipur. Chandigarh begin their campaign with a match against Karnataka on September 21. Next they play Manipur on September 23, and Assam on September 25.
Hosts Punjab have been grouped with Pudicherry and Nagaland in cluster IV. In their qualifying cluster matches, they will face Pudicherry tomorrow and Nagaland on September 24.
Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat and Bihar are in cluster VII.
Himachal's are pitted against Bihar on September 21 and Gujarat on September 25.
The Cluster VIII is comprising Haryana, Goa and Tripura. Himachal play Tripura on September 23 and Goa on September 25.
Chandigarh team: A Gomei (captain), Wang, Rahul, Jasbir, Wanish, Lowang, Umakant, Arsh, Manish, Abhishek, Nishank, Sartaj, Parnav, Kartik, Jashanpreet, Balpreet and Sonu. Surinder Singh and Narinder Thapa will accompany the team as coach and manager, respectively.
Following are the clusters: Cluster I: West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Orissa. Cluster II: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram. Cluster III: Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Kerala. Cluster IV: Punjab, Pudicherry, Nagaland. Cluster V: Uttrakhand, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir. Cluster VI: Karnataka, Chandigarh, Assam, Manipur. Cluster VII: Delhi, Gujarat, Bihar.
Cluster VIII: Goa, Tripura and Haryana.
