Srinagar, Sep 19 (UNI) Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani was again prevented from offering prayers in a mosque on the third consecutive Friday today after he was put under house arrest.

Official sources said it was a preventive measure.

A spokesman of the HC said a large number of police and security force personnel remained deployed outside the Hyderpora residence of Mr Geelani, who has been put under house arrest from Monday after he addressed people at Peer Dastigeer sahib shrine at Sarai Balal where CRPF alleged damaged window panes and entered the shrine premises with shoes.

The District Magistrate has since ordered an inquiry into the incident and promised to take action against CRPF personnel allegedly involved in it.

He said Mr Geelani has been informed that he cannot leave his house till further orders.

There was a special programme of Mr Geelani for today except to offer prayers in a mosque, he said, adding, yesterday he was scheduled to address devotees in Iqra masjid in the city.
