Delhi CM meets Home Minister Patil to review security situation
New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to review the security situation in the national Capital and discuss the steps required to be taken to beef up security in the wake of the September 13 blasts.
''At the meeting with the Home Minister, I suggested the need to create greater awareness among the public about the need for increased vigilance which will go a long way in averting incidents like the September 13 blasts,''Ms Dikshit said on the sidelines of a function to announce the entry into the Congress of former Delhi NCP chief and Gujjar leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri.
She said the Home Minister informed her about the measures being taken by the Centre to beef up security in the city including training of an additional 17,000 police personnel, setting up additional PCR vans and installing more CCTV cameras.
''I suggested that the services of retired police personnel and army personnel be utilised for manning security operations till the time the additional police personnel were fully trained,''Ms Dikshit said.
