Congress demands Prez rule in K'taka
Bangalore, Sep 19 (UNI) Charging the Karnataka Government with failure in protecting the Minorities and contain the continued attacks on places of worship in the State, Opposition Leader in the Assembly Mallikarjun Kharge today urged the Union Government to bring the State under President's rule.
Addressing newspersons here, Mr Kharge, who is also the KPCC President, charged that all the attacks on places of worship were carried out with the backing of the State Government.
The State Government had totally failed in protecting the life and property of the Minorities, Mr Kharge said adding the government had lost the moral ground to remain in power.
''Let the new government go before the people and get a fresh mandate,'' he said.
Bajarang Dal Functionary Mahendra Kumar had openly claimed responsibility and defended the attack on places of worship.
However, the State government had not yet taken any action. This showed the government's blessings for the unlawful acts of communal elements, he alleged.
