Chennai, Sep 19 (UNI) For the second meeting in succession,AIADMK Legislator and popular comedian S Ve Sekhar was kept out of the AIADMK General council held here today.
Unlike the last meeting held in February when he kept the top brass of the party guessing, this time he chose to go on a pilgrimage as he was not invited for the meeting.
Though speculation was rife he might be shown the door by the party leadership, nothing happened at the meeting.
Asked about the party not extending an invitation to him for the meeting for the second time, Mr Sekhar was not seemingly perturbed about it.
''Whether I was invited or not, I always continue to be a loyal worker of Amma, (as AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa is affectionately called by the party cadre),'' he said.
Stating politics was not his bread and butter, he said, ''I consider my MLA post as a means to serve the public.'' Though invitations were sent to all the Executive and General Council members, it was not sent to Mr Sekhar.
During the last General Council, Mr Sekhar, who was not invited for the meeting, hit the headlines when he rushed to the State Secretariat, triggering speculation of his resignation.
However, sensing trouble, senior AIADMK leaders, under the direction of the Party High Command, rushed to the Secretariat and took Mr Sekhar to the General Council venue. There he met Ms Jayalalithaa and explained to her that he had only gone to the Secretariat to collect some books and not to put in his papers.
But no such drama was there this time as the popular comedy actor chose to remain aloof and spend the day with his family by touring temples in Kumbakonam and surrounding areas...perhaps seeking divine intervention to safeguard his political fortunes.
