Tripura police felicitates football players

Agartala, Sep 18 (UNI) The Tripura Police felicitated both men and women football players for their recent achievements in different league tournaments in the state and assured to continue the institutional support for sportsmanship development among the personnel.

During the felicitation ceremony here yesterday, Director General of Tripura Police Pranay Sahay announced a cash reward of Rs 2,000 each for the members of both the teams and the best goal scorer Kiran Chetri of Police team (men) and both the coaches were rewarded Rs 2,500 each.

''Despite professional challenges to maintain peace in the state, the policemen have performed excellently in the football tournaments, which again established the multi-dimensional potential of the personnel and the authorities would continue its support for sportsmanship development,'' Sahay asserted.

The Tripura Women Police Football Team has won the Championship in 2008 both in League Tournament where six Women Football Teams participated and the Police team won all the matches.

Similarly, in the Knock-out Tournament, five women teams were the participants and the Police Team again won all the matches and thus became champion.
