The Manch was established by Patanjali Yog Peeth of Swami Ramdev Maharaj. The Manch works to raise awareness among people about rising pollution in various rivers across the country, including the holy Ganga.

As part of the mission, a peace rally was organised here to create awareness about the pollution of river Godavari. It began from the holy Ramkund and culminated at the District Collectorate. A memorandum was given to District Collector S Chokkalingam.

Independent schemes for purifying polluted waters, formation of Ganga Protection Authority, declaring the Ganga as a 'National Treasure', prevention of dumping stray dead animals, industrial waste and other things such as plastic bags in the rivers, were some of the important demands.

President of the Bharatiya Akhada Parishad Sagaranandji Maharaj, Mahant Ramsnehidasji Maharaj and other 150 saints from the district, participated in the peace rally.

The saints observed one-day fast on the occasion. A signature compaign was also organised. A memorandum with one lakh signatures will be given to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and concerned Chief Ministers through District Collectors.
