I stayed in Tauqir's house: Abu Bashar

New Delhi, Sep 18: The important link of operation 'BAD' (Bangalore-Ahmedabad-Delhi) and the main accused of the Ahmedabad blasts, Abu Bashar was brought to New Delhi on Thursday, Sep 18 to verify his links with Delhi blasts. "Abu Bashar was brought to the capital after we did the primary interrogations in Gujarat. He has been brought to Delhi to make independent investigations. He is important link of all recent blasts," Delhi Police officials said.

Gujarat Police has said that Bashar has made many revelations during the interrogation.

"During interrogation Bashar made important revelations. He said that he was aware of the Delhi blasts. Delhi Police teams were in Gujarat immediately after the arrest of Abu Bashar. They also stated that everything was communicated to the Union Home Ministry on record 20 days before the blasts," Gujarat Police officials said.

He had allegedly stayed in a house in Delhi with terror mastermind Abdul Subhan Qureshi alias, Tauqir who is wanted for the Delhi blasts.

"He (Bashar) is in our remand and we have taken him to Delhi to verify certain links and leads," said, P C Pande, Director General of Gujarat Police.

"Abu Bashar was brought to Delhi after we did the primary interrogations in Gujarat. He has been brought to Delhi to make independent investigations," Delhi Police officials said.

A SIMI activist, Bashar, who was nabbed in Uttar Pradesh last month in connection with the Ahmedabad serial blasts, is allegedly also involved in the terror strike in Lumbini Park in Hyderabad last year.

Bashar had worked as a teacher in a Hyderabad-based madrasa for almost two years from 2005. According to the police he had stated during his interrogation that he had stayed with Tauqir in a house in Zakir Nagar, Delhi in July.

Tauqir has been named by the Gujarat police as being one of the masterminds behind the Ahmedabad terror strike. He is also accused of having sent the threatening emails for terror group Indian Mujahideen from Mumbai.
