Army fit to take charge of relief operation-Lalu Prasad

Saharsa, Sept 18 (UNI) Commenting on the "failure" of the state government to tackle the overall flood situation in north Bihar, Railway Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad said today the state government should hand over the charge of relief and rescue operation to Army in the flood ravaged districts.

The RJD supremo was touring the flood affected north Bihar districts to vigil the overall relief and rescue operation currently going on in the region.

The minister visited flood affected Purniaghat, Raghopur, 22 RD areas and met with the people in the relief camps.He criticised the "irresponsible attitude and dubious role" of the state government to the flood hit people of north Bihar.

"After getting satisfactory monetary help and assurances for further help from the Central government the state government still could not manage and tackle the flood situation properly," said Lalu Prasad.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Water Resources Jay Prakash Narayan Yadav said that for a long time solution of the 'Kosi Problem,' India and Nepal governments had agreed to take proper initiatives.

Recently, in Delhi Union Waterways Minister Saiffuddin Sauj had met with his Nepaleese counterpart Bishnu Podel to discuss all the problems between the two countries and were agreed to form a three-tier committee to solve all the disputes including the Kosi problem.

"The secretary of the concerned ministry of India would visit Nepal on September 29 and 30 to meet with the Nepaleese officials there to discuss all the problems,"said Mr.J.P.Yadav.
