16-year-old girl shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailant
New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) In an apparent case of love affair gone sour, a 16-year-old student of a government school was allegedly shot dead by a motorcycle-borne man in Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi this afternoon.
The girl Neha, student of Class XI, was shot dead near a petrol pump in Lado Sarai under Malviya Nagar police station at about 1430 hrs while returning from school, said a police official.
''It is a case of love affair and we are investigating it further.'' The boy who was on a motorcycle, and in his 20s, fired a single shot at the girl and fled from the scene soon after the girl fell on the ground. The bullet after passing through her shoulder has pierced her heart.
She was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre but was declared 'brought dead'.
A resident of Aya Nagar, Neha was a student of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Mehrauli.
Police added that the suspect had been identified and raids were being conducted to nab him.
