Salim asked to apologise before Id
Mumbai, Sep 17 (UNI) The Bandra Muslim Association today demanded that noted writer Salim Khan, father of actor Salman Khan, make a public apology before Id for his alleged remarks against Islamic scholars and Madarasas.
Addressing
a
press
conference
here,
the
association
president
Mohammed
Farooq
Ghosi
said
''If
Mr
Khan
fails
to
apologise
before,
EId,
we
will
launch
an
agitation
against
him
and
his
family.'' Mr
Khan
had
taken
offence
to
the
Muslim
clerics,
who
had
issued
a
'fatwa'
against
him
and
his
family
for
celebrating
Ganeshotsav
in
their
home.
He
had
reportedly
said,
''They
claim
to
be
speaking
for
Islam,
but
actually
what
they
are
doing
is
anti-Islamic.
I
am
relying
on
scriptures
of
the
Holy
Quran,
which
says
my
religion
is
with
me,
yours
is
with
you.
Don't
force
your
religious
beliefs
on
others.''
Alleging
that
the
Khan
family
utilised
the
Islam
religion
just
to
earn
money,
Ghosi
said,
''Every
religion
has
its
own
law
and
if
any
person
violates
the
law,
religious
sects
have
the
power
to
issue
'fatwa'
against
that
person.''
