NCW urges K'taka Govt to restore normalcy
Mangalore, Sep 17 (UNI) National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Girija Vyas today urged the Karnataka Government and the district administration to make all efforts to restore the situation to total normalcy and build confidence among people.
Addressing a press conference after visiting some of the damaged places of worship and prayer halls due to the attack by the miscreants and hearing the complaints by the minority community women in the city, Ms Vyas along with other members of the Commission said she had urged the district police authority to submit its investigation report in two days time on the alleged atrocities by the police on women and children.
Complaints were also invited from the public and NGOs for a comprehensive report, which would be submitted to the Union Government soon, she said.
She said the district administration should take up confidence building measures for restoration of peace and communal harmony in the district, which was badly affected by the recent attacks on prayer halls followed by violence and alleged police atrocities.
She demanded that an inquiry also be initiated into the alleged police atrocities on the innocent minority community women and children.
