Mah CM promises to allocate 900 cr to MSDB

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Sep 17: The chairman of Marathwada Statutory Development Board (MSDB), Madhukarrao Chavan, said that Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had promised to allocate a sum of Rs 900 crore for various developmental works that are pending in the region.

Addressing a news conference after attending a Board meeting held in presence of the chief minister at the divisional commissionerate here last evening, Mr Chavan said Mr Deshmukh had assured the Board that their demands like construction of 83 water reservoirs between Aurangabad and Nanded, filling up the backlog in health department and preference to local educated youths in employment would be approved.

He said in the meeting various issues were discussed that included increasing irrigation capacity by promoting sprinkle irrigation system, releasing six TMC water from Krishna Valley for the development of Marathwada region, setting up of a cold storage and a warehouse in each tehsil, to set up 100-bed or 200-bed hospitals at different places in the region.

Mr Chavan said ''The Board had demanded the administration to give a serious thought over the proposals including setting up of Food Park at Marathwada Agriculture University (MAU-Parbhani), 50-bed nursing home at Government Medical College and Hospital (Aurangabad), setting up of trauma and critical care units along with ambulance service and new hostel for post-graduate students in the city.''
