IIT-B gets 5 M$ grant from alumni for Research Centre
Mumbai, Sep 17 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, (IITB) today signed an MoU with the Wadhwani Foundation to establish the Wadhwani Research Centre for Biosciences and Bioengineering (WRCBB) with a five million USD grant.
Wadhwani Foundation is founded by Dr Romesh Wadhwani, a distinguished alumnus of IITB from the class of 1969 and an IT entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, California. Dr Wadhwani had announced this gift to his alma mater at a conference held in New York in July 2008.
Faculty of Biosciences and Bioengineering will be affiliated to WRCBB to carry out their research. The objectives of WRCBB will be to establish new standards for world class research with high global impact. Through WRCBB, faculty of Biosciences and Bioengineering, will develop partnership with other leading research institutions across the world, according to a release from IIT-B here.
