Gurgoan, Karnal to be developed as spl destinations

Chandigarh, Sep 17 (UNI) Gurgoan, Pinjore and Karnal in Haryana will be developed as special destinations for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.

This decision was taken in the first meeting of the Haryana Tourism Development Council under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today.

It was also decided in principle that Tourism Department should develop pilgrim destinations at Kurukshetra and Pehowa, Hodal as part of Brij Circuit, develop Narnaul as heritage city on route to Shekhavati and also strengthen Highway tourism in the State.

It was suggested that air linkages, road and rail connectivity to various tourists places should be strengthened especially in Kurukshetra.

In the meeting it was decided in principal that the Tourism Department would develop an integrated tourism resort at Kalesar for long term lease in about nine acres of land in public private parternship.

Kalesar is situated in the foothills of Shivalik Ranges of Himalayas in the Yamuna Nagar district, sharing boundary with three States--Himachal Pradesh, Uttranchal and Uttar Pradesh.

The area is full of bio diversity having dense sal forest, khair forest and patches of grass lands which support an amazing variety of plants and animal species.

Kalesar is at a distance of two hour drive from Chandigarh and four hour drive from New Delhi.

It was decided to develop adventure camp sites at Surajkund, Damdama, Hodal and Dharuhera tourist complexes.
