Goa Government opposes CMZ
Panaji, Sep 17 (UNI) Goa Government today opposed the Coastal Management Zone (CMZ), saying that it was not in the interest of the state.
The Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, speaking to mediapersons, said the decision was taken after consultation with all the party leaders at a meeting held here.
Mr Kamat said if CMZ is implemented all the powers would go to Union Environment and Forest ministry and development of the state would be affected. Even Maharastra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had opposed CMZ, he added.
State Minister for Power Aleixo Sequeira, Transport Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar and Revenue Minister Jose Philip D'souza were present at the briefing.
